Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to examine the impact of climate change on Ecuadorian sugarcane exports between 2022 and 2024, in connection with the challenges the industry faces due to the fragility of its water resources, and particularly how the El Niño phenomenon affects it. It is a qualitative case study based on a review of documents and analytical sheets. A 32% decrease in production was observed in 2022, while exports suffered a drastic adjustment during 2023, and previous stocks were depleted. The findings indicate that water management is deficient, small producers are vulnerable, and public policies have limitations. The research concluded by indicating concrete actions: optimizing climate insurance and credit, promoting technical training, increasing the competitiveness and resilience of the sugar sector, establishing inclusive financing methods, and modernizing irrigation systems.
