Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the urban green index, as a basic component towards sustainable urban development, applying the case study of the City of Puerto López in the Province of Manabí. Urban green areas affect the quality of life of the population, due to the multiple benefits they provide in different aspects, whether in health, in the social sphere, in the climate and in energy saving. For this reason, the objective of this research work is to establish a descriptive analysis of the urban green index, its contribution to sustainability to aim at a balance between development and well-being.
