Abstract:	This research sought to analyze the process of urban expansion and its effects on the avifauna of the Gavilán Valley of the City of Manta. For this, the methodology used was composed of two stages, one to estimate the spatial variation of the vegetation cover and the urban expansion and the other to determine the abundance of birds existing in the study area.
Description:	La presente investigación buscó analizar el proceso de expansión urbana y sus efectos en la avifauna del Valle del Gavilán de la Ciudad de Manta. Para ello, la metodología utilizada estuvo compuesta de dos etapas, una para estimar la variación espacial de la cobertura vegetal y la expansión urbana y la otra para determinar la abundancia de aves existente en el área de estudio. Para el presente componente se realizó un estudio multi-temporal sobre el área de estudio.
