Alternativas de tratamiento con resinas infiltrativas en odontología: Revisión bibliográfica.

Abstract

The management of caries when the lesions are not yet cavitated has changed radically. One of the materials used to treat this type of injury is infiltrative resins. This is a microinvasive treatment of superficial white spot lesions, with the aim of preserving tooth structure and the advantage of good acceptability by all types of patients, including children. The objective of the study was to determine the treatments with infiltrative resins that can be performed in dentistry. The research had a qualitative approach, documentary design and was carried out under the principles of systematic reviews. Fifteen studies on infiltrative resins published between 2015 and 2022 were included. According to the study design, they were distributed as follows: systematic reviews with meta-analysis (3), comparative studies (3), systematic review without meta-analysis (2), integrative review (1), narrative review (2), randomized clinical trial (2), cohort study (1), experimental study (1). Infiltrative resins are indicated to treat incipient carious lesions, in their non-cavitated white lesion stage, to mask enamel development defects such as fluorosis and white spot lesions after orthodontic treatment. The clinical procedure for the application of infiltrative resins consists of acid etching to condition the surface and apply the resin so that it penetrates the porosities of the conditioned enamel.
