Abstract: | The use of plastic is daily in our lives; however, excessive use has caused enormous damage to the planet, and without realizing it, food containers and packaging also affect our health. Taking this background into account and in search of an alternative to reduce the waste that pollutes the environment, research was carried out for the elaboration of a Biopolymer based on the rachis of the banana (Musa Paradisiaca) used in biodegradable packaging, and of In this way, we can give better use and added value to this organic residue, considering that the El Carmen canton is dedicated to the export of this species of banana and large quantities of this residue are generated, which if it is not given a good use and exploitation can also cause pollution and environmental problems. The objective of this project was to determine the mechanical characteristics of biopolymer-based films (banana rachis), in the production of biodegradable packaging, for which the following analyzes were carried out, resulting in the following: T1 2 permeability values, 70 x 10 -11 g m/sm2Pa, T2 1.04 x 10 -11 g m/sm2Pa, tensile strength T1 12.05 MPa, T2 2.46 MPa, hardness T1 23.99 N, T2 37.76 N and elongation T1 15.62%, T2 1.39%. |
