Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of Valeriana officinalis on the stress of Japanese quail in the laying phase, analyzing production parameters. 100 birds of 7 weeks of age were used, distributed in random blocks and subjected to four levels of valerian (control, 0.06%, 0.12%, 0.25% and 0.5%) with four repetitions and 5 birds per repetition. Production parameters (feed conversion per egg mass, laying percentage, egg weight, egg diameter, number of eggs, mortality) were evaluated. The results obtained showed that valerian added to the diet did not affect the productive parameters of Japanese quail in laying phase.
