Abstract: Grasslands present many problems when they are not properly managed and this leads to a wide range of problems, among which the growth of weed populations is mentioned. This study was carried out in production systems with mixed fattening cattle crossed with Brahman, in the Río Suma experimental farm, of the Eloy Alfaro Lay University of Manabí. Ext El Carmen. In order to measure the influence of animal load to control the incidence of weeds in pastures of Megathyrsus maximus over the course of a month. An area of 60,000 m 2 . The established design was experimental of random complete blocks with six replications. The treatments evaluated were: T1 (animal load 1.0); T2 (animal load 1.2); T3 (animal load 1.5); T4 (animal load 2.0). The percentage and type of weed were measured according to the animal load. The results reported that there is no significant difference in weed control depending on animal load and the dominant weed species in the grasslands was Asclepias curassavica L., the lowest treatment (T3) reported 7.68% in relation to the incidence of weeds and T2 the highest incidence of weeds (8.65%). It is concluded that there were positive correlations between the percentage of weeds and the animal load, which showed that as the animal load increases, so did the abundance of weeds.
