Abstract: The research was carried out at the Tigrillo Experimental Farm belonging to the Laica Eloy Alfaro University of Manabí Extension Chone, where the objective was to evaluate the influence of cutting time on yield in eight pasture species, which were: Pasto Estrella (Cynodon plectostachyus), Mombaza Grass (Panicum maximum cv. Mombasa), Tanzania Grass (Megathyrsus maximus, Jacq.), King Grass (Pennisetum Purpureum), Brachiaria Humidícola Grass (Urochloa brizantha), German Grass (Echinochloa polystachya H.B.K.), Marandú Grass (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandú) and Pasto Mulato (Brachiaria hybrid). The pastures were established in demonstration plots with an area of 16 m2 each, at the same time irrigation management and weed control were carried out as carried out by farmers in the area. As a result, better conditions were obtained for the King grass and the Mulato grass, its performance presented 40% more than the evaluated materials of the same genus, which indicates that it adapts well to the conditions where the test was developed. It also had a biomass of 250 g/m2. However, the cutting time was not adequate to achieve optimal yields in all the evaluated species since the biomass was below the expected production range.
Description: La investigación se llevó a cabo en la Finca Experimental Tigrillo perteneciente a la Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí Extensión Chone, donde tuvo como objetivo evaluar la influencia del tiempo de corte sobre el rendimiento en ocho especies de pasturas, que fueron: Pasto Estrella (Cynodon plectostachyus), Pasto Mombaza (Panicum maximum cv. Mombasa), Pasto Tanzania (Megathyrsus maximus, Jacq.), Pasto King Grass (Pennisetum Purpureum), Pasto Brachiaria Humidícola (Urochloa brizantha), Pasto Alemán (Echinochloa polystachya H.B.K.), Pasto Marandú (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandú) y Pasto Mulato (Brachiaria híbrido).
