Diagnóstico de sistemas agroforestales presentes del cantón El Carmen.

Abstract

Agroforestrysystemsrepresentan alternative tothe use of agriculturalsoils in a sustainablemanner, whichhelpsincreaseproduction and diversifiesthepopulation of plantsonfarms; Forthisreason, thepresentresearchworkwasdeveloped in thecanton of El Carmen, Province of Manabí, in the rural parish of Wilfrido Loor Moreira, located at km 42 of the Santo Domingo Chone road, withthepurpose of carryingout a diagnosis of thesystemsagroforestrythat are present in the Wilfrido Loor Moreira maicito sector, forthis a surveywasdevelopedwithquestionsthatallowedknowingseveral fundamental parameters of thefarmerssuch as the social, environmental, productive and agroforestryaspects of theirfarms, thefarms of the sector dedicatedtoagriculturalproductionthathadanagroforestrysystemwithintheirproperties, thatis, a combination of forest and fruittrees, plus othercomponents in additiontotraditionalcultivation.Theresultsfounddeterminedthat 50% of producersknow at a mediumlevelaboutagroforestrysystems and are interested in theirimplementation, likewise, thesesystems in this sector are characterizedbythepresence of foresttreessuch as laurel (Laurusnobilis) in 70% of theproperties, whilethefruittreewiththehighestincidenceisthemandarin, withmajoritypopulations of between 1 to 10 trees per farm, in terms of crops, thelargestareas are cultivatedwithgrass, banana and cocoa.
