Abstract: | In the present investigation, the effect of the use of types of litter in the production of broiler chickens as a litter alternative was evaluated. It was held in the Canton El Carmen, belonging to the province of Manabí. The project lasted six weeks, a population of 100 chickens of the Cobb line was used for it, the birds were randomly distributed in 20 experimental units, each one formed by 5 chickens, a completely random design was carried out (DCA) with four treatments. The treatments that were evaluated were: T1 (rice husk), T2 (sand plus rice husk), T3 (sand plus chips) and T4 (sand). The variables analyzed were daily feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion, mortality, gizzard yield. The results obtained were the following: in terms of food consumption, T3 (sand plus chip) with 129.04g obtained higher consumption and T2 (sand plus husk) with 118.33 had lower food consumption. Weight gain: T3 (sand plus chip) with 1352.86g and T2 (sand plus husk) with 1258.14g. Mortality: T4 (sand) had no mortality and T3 (sand plus chips) had 20% mortality. It was established that T3, in which the litter is made up of sand plus chips, had a higher feed intake, higher weight gain and higher mortality. |
