Abstract: The research was carried out on the grounds of the Rio Suma Experimental Farm of the “Eloy Alfaro” Lay University of Manabí, El Carmen Extension, province of Manabí, located at km 25 of the Vía Santo Domingo – Chone, right margin. Its objective was to evaluate productive parameters of the Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica), using crushed oregano (Origanum vulgare) on meat production. Five treatments were established with combinations of balanced and crushed oregano. The treatments used were: 250 g of balanced, 247.5 g of balanced + 2.5 g of oregano, 245 g of balanced + 5 g of oregano, 242.5 g of balanced + 7.5 g of oregano and 240 g of balanced + 10 g of oregano. In the productive variables: feed conversion, weekly weight gain and carcass yield, there were no significant differences between the treatments with balanced feed with oregano. The costbenefit ratio was less than 1 in all treatments, except for the control treatment where a value of 1.02 was obtained, which represents a gain of 0.02 dollars per dollar invested as variable cost.
Description: La investigación se realizó en los predios de la Granja Experimental Río Suma de la Universidad Laica “Eloy Alfaro” De Manabí Extensión El Carmen, provincia de Manabí, ubicada en el km 25 de la Vía Santo Domingo – Chone, margen derecho. Tuvo como objetivo evaluar parámetros productivos de la codorniz japónica (Coturnix coturnix japonica), utilizando triturados de orégano (Origanum vulgare L.) sobre la producción de carne. Se establecieron cinco tratamientos con combinaciones de balanceado y triturados de orégano.
