Caracterización de Samán (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) en condiciones de trópico seco para uso silvopastoril. Cantón Pichincha, Provincia de Manabí.

Abstract

The following investigation was performed at the property of Mr. Cristobal Zambrano, at the Parrales community, Barraganete parish, Pichincha county, Manabí province. The objective is to establish the behavior, in its initial development, of the morphological characteristics of the Samán (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) for a period of 10 months from its sowing. During this period, data was collected on the growth rate, stem diameter, leaf emission and branches. Regarding the height of the plant, a slow but sustained growth could be observed until the ninth month, when it reached an average of 97.8 cm, at that time rapid growth is observed, reaching 135.5 cm in the tenth month; Regarding the diameter of the stem, after reaching 0.64 cm in the third month, it remains so until the seventh, showing a significant and sustained development until the end of the investigation (2.51 cm); in the foliar emission, its behavior is sustained during the ten months, it begins with one leaf, but at the end of the last month of investigation, it managed to emit 10 leaves. Finally, in reference to the emission of branches, it is sustained until the fifth month, starting with 3.2 branches until reaching 8.3 in month 5, staying this way until the ninth, at which time a greater formation of branches begins, reaching 10 emissions of branches in the tenth month.
