Abstract: The objective of this research work was to evaluate the use of Allium sativum in the control of subclinical mastitis in dairy cows in the Flor de Manabí community of El Carmen canton that have mastitis. In this experiment, 9 lactating animals with signs of mastitis and that gave positive results to the California test (CMT) were selected. A local therapy with a garlic extract treatment (Allium Sativum) was carried out for three days and with a frequency of every 24 hours. Once the test period was over, a California test (CMT) was performed on all the selected animals, observing that the garlic extract produced a positive response that the treatment works correctly and with great efficacy. Therefore, it is concluded that garlic extract is considered an ideal alternative for mastitis treatments, making it a low-cost product ($2.43), compared to conventional antibiotic treatment ($41.50).
