Propuesta arquitectónica de un centro geriátrico integral para el adulto mayor de la ciudad de Portoviejo.

Abstract

The Canton Portoviejo, is one of the main urban settlement of the province of Manabí that constitutes a high index of people of the third age with extreme poverty levels according to official data of the "PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT of the GAD Portoviejo" according to the population census and housing carried out in 2010 by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), the population of older adults was more than 6500 inhabitants, equivalent to a percentage of 8.2% of the population of the Canton Portoviejo, which constitutes 6% of older adults, compared to other Cantones such as Manta with 5.4% and El Carmen 5.2% in relation to the total population of older adults in the province of Manabí, therefore This thesis project has been framed in making a proposal for an Integral Geriatric Center in the Canton Portoviejo, Province of Manabí, with the purpose of contributing to the service of the community a place where the elderly meet with the attentions and comforts that are it deserves, without this demand any cost, where the main objective of this project is oriented in that the elderly have an environment and equipment with the highest standards, where they can enjoy special protection, opportunities, services, and benefits that correspond to him as determined by law. In the City of Portoviejo there are several geriatric centers among them; Renovation, CALEB Home, Dr. Teresa Sánchez Ramos, among others, that through a visual study it was found that the current geriatric of the City do not provide all the appropriate conditions in relation to infrastructure and equipment at the service of the elderly, currently the Municipality of this Canton does not have studies, nor areas destined for the creation of a Geriatric Center that locates and renders the corresponding services according to the community Portovejense and Manabita, being this project of titulación a door and base to pose ideas to the respective managers, such as the proposal of an Integral Geriatric Center, taking into account the physical infrastructure as a basis for the care of the elderly.
