Usabilidad en sitios web oficiales de las universidades del Ecuador. Propuesta de un sistema de evaluación.

Abstract

Websites are a key component that coexists along with diverse organizations in our always competitive globalized world, in parallel their usability is important in terms of satisfying the needs and expectations of website users. In this scenario are universities, whose websites are expected to cover different types of information needs for students, teachers, staff and alumni, who are trained or formed in multiple areas of knowledge. This research presents a multicriteria heuristic evaluation system based on the ISO 9241-151 standard, where is made an ergonomics manual assessment of the human-system interaction, of web user interfaces according to the design criteria, presentation, search, content design and navigation, which were applied for the construction of these sites. The evaluation is applied to the 59 existing universities in Ecuador. Finally, recommendations for the design of university websites are discussed and problems detected in the usability tests are discussed.
