Abstract: The present research describes which family dysfunction factors affect the academic performance of adolescents from the Luis Felipe Chávez Unit of the Jaramijó canton. The methodology used for this purpose consisted of a quantitative approach, the instrume nt that was applied was the survey with closed questions. Four factors of family dysfunction were identified that have a greater impact on the academic performance of adolescents in the educational unit, as a result of which 57% of students with low academic performance have a lack of communication with their parents, the second factor is motivational in the family, it was known that of 40 students 23 do not have motivation to improve their performance, the third factor has to do with the absence of parents for work or their activities which of 40 students 26 feel the absence causing the low academic performance, the fourth factor is the affective factor, the result was that of 40 students, 21 feel the emotional absence.
Description: La presente investigación describe los factores de disfuncionalidad familiar que afectan el rendimiento académico de los adolescentes de la Unidad Luis Felipe Chávez del cantón Jaramijó. La metodología utilizada para este fin consistió en un enfoque cuantitati vo, el instrumento que se aplicó fue la encuesta con preguntas cerradas.
