Abstract

The present research titled "Normative Beliefs and Their Influence on Alcohol Consumption Among Youth in the Social Work Program at ULEAM During the Year 2023" aims to analyze the normative beliefs and their influence on alcohol consumption among the youth in the Social Work program at ULEAM during the year 2023. The study seeks to delve into factors such as social pressure, cultural, social, and environmental factors, as well as peer influence, trends, and social changes that determine alcohol consumption in this specific population. This is quantitative research with a descriptive research type, utilizing the theory of planned behavior and the social learning theory as theoretical aspects, and adopting an ecological model with a holistic approach. The survey was used as the instrument, which was conducted with a sample of 228 students from the Social Work program. The results revealed a discrepancy between the perceived risk and the reality of the youth concerning alcohol consumption, indicating active consumption despite their awareness of the potential consequences on their academic performance and lifestyle. In conclusion, there is an awareness of alcohol consumption among the youth in the Social Work program; however, significant consumption persists within the program.
