Determinantes del abandono escolar en el sector pesquero de San Mateo – Manta.

Abstract

The general objective of this work is to find the determinants of school dropout of the population of the artisanal fishing sector of the San Mateo - Manta parish. Methods. The data were taken from the research project: Socioeconomic, productive and environmental study of the artisanal fishing subsector of the San Mateo parish, Manta canton; and, from the Jaramijó canton of the province of Manabí. The research is valid, because it has sufficient theoretical support in various scientific articles and documents from official organizations. This research used a quantitative methodology through a logistic regression model of the probability of dropping out, applied at three educational levels (primary, secondary and higher). Results. As schooling levels increase, the number of students decreases. The probability of abandonment increases with respect to socioeconomic factors (age, sex of the head of the household, level of income and job), educational (type of institution) and technological factors (access to internet, telephone and computer), in different proportions for each level. educational.
