Abstract: The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Ecuador and China, signed in May 2023, establishes a framework for the gradual reduction of tariffs and the elimination of non-tariff barriers, aiming to boost economic growth and enhance competitiveness. This agreement provides preferential access to a market of 1.4 billion consumers, primarily benefiting Ecuadorian exports such as bananas and pet food, through reduced tariffs and simplified customs procedures. The tariff reduction schedule is divided into categories, ranging from immediate elimination to a period of up to 20 years for certain products. The agreement not only facilitates trade but also promotes technological cooperation and knowledge transfer. The research details how the FTA impacts exporters and importers and proposes optimizing the inclusion of more Ecuadorian products in favorable categories to maximize benefits and market opportunities.
