Abstract

This study examines Ecuadorian banana exports from 2018 to 2023, focusing particularly on Manabí province. Its aim is to investigate reasons behind the decline in export revenues and propose strategies to strengthen Ecuador's international position in the global banana market. The methodology involves detailed and systematic analysis of economic and trade data, along with review of relevant market trends and factors. Findings highlight the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, shifts in European consumer preferences towards local products, and logistical challenges in the supply chain. This study provides a robust foundation for future research and policy-making, emphasizing the importance of adapting to changing conditions and enhancing competitiveness through sustainable practices and innovative strategies.
