Abstract: Depression is a serious public health problem due to its high prevalence, negative impact on quality of life, high economic costs, relationship with other chronic diseases, and its role in increasing the risk of suicide. In addition, stigma and limited access to treatment aggravate the situation, making urgent and effective intervention in health systems necessary. Depression is one of the main risk factors for suicide. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death, especially among young people, and depression plays a central role in many of these cases. The purpose of this research is to create an educational guide with information that helps the care and support of people with depression or depressive disorders, based on the analysis based on the existing scientific literature. Scientific methods are applied based on a systematic bibliographic review in an Analytical-Synthetic, Inductive-Deductive way. The review includes studies that address different approaches to care, such as emotional support, patient education, promotion of healthy habits, and interdisciplinary coordination in the treatment of depression. The findings of this research aim to provide nursing professionals with an evidence-based framework for the implementation of more effective care strategies, thus contributing to optimize mental health care and improve clinical outcomes in this population.
