Abstract: | Respiratory failure during pregnancy is a topic of great relevance in the area of maternal-fetal health. As the fetus develops, the respiratory system of the mother undergoes physiological changes to accommodate the oxygen needs of both she as of the fetus. However, in some cases, these adaptations can be seen compromised, leading to respiratory failure that puts health and safety at risk. well-being of both mother and fetus. During the period of pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium, the woman experiences modifications in their anatomy, physiology and ventilatory dynamics. These changes can lead to the appearance of complications, among which is difficulty syndrome acute respiratory This syndrome represents a challenge for health professionals, since which may be associated with various complications during pregnancy, such as chorioamnionitis, abortion or amniotic fluid embolism. Proper management and treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome are of vital importance. In this sense, they have progress has been made in ventilatory strategies, such as reducing tidal volume and prone position during mechanical ventilation. These improvements have demonstrated an impact favorable in the prognosis of pregnant women who present this complication. (Pozos et al., 2019). |
Description: | La insuficiencia respiratoria durante el embarazo es un tema de gran relevancia en el ámbito de la salud materno-fetal. A medida que el feto se desarrolla, el sistema respiratorio de la madre experimenta cambios fisiológicos para acomodar las necesidades de oxígeno tanto de ella como del feto. Sin embargo, en algunos casos, estas adaptaciones pueden verse comprometidas, lo que lleva a una insuficiencia respiratoria que pone en riesgo la salud y el bienestar tanto de la madre como del feto. |
