Abstract: | The present study is carried out under the objective that allows to know the professional nursing competencies in the administration of high-risk medications in pediatrics, through a bibliographic review, where a systematic study was applied under a bibliographic review, carrying out a compilation and analysis of studies and relevant scientific publications on the subject, covering different years to obtain a broad and updated perspective, resulting in the critical importance of nursing professionals who work with pediatric patients being fully trained and prepared to face the challenges associated with the administration of high-risk medications. A number of key skills were identified as critical to this process, including accurate knowledge of dosage and calculations, understanding drug interactions, proper handling of medical devices, and the ability to assess and communicate potential adverse effects. In conclusion, the literature review provided a detailed view of the nursing professional competencies required for the safe administration of high-risk medications in pediatrics. These findings are highly relevant for the continuous improvement of clinical practice and to ensure the quality and safety of care for the most vulnerable patients. The need for rigorous and updated training is highlighted, as well as the implementation of safety protocols and a culture of learning and continuous improvement in the clinical environment to guarantee optimal care in this critical area of pediatric nursing. |
