Abstract: Gestational diabetes in adolescents presents unique challenges, requiring specialized care and a comprehensive approach from health personnel, where thanks to the exhaustive analysis of 25 recent articles, this thesis allows us to identify that the role of nursing is crucial in the effective management of this condition, nurses must not only provide personalized education on glucose control and diet, but also offer emotional support and coping strategies for adolescents, who often face significant psychosocial barriers, timely intervention and constant monitoring are essential to prevent complications and improve outcomes for both mother and baby. Gestational diabetes is associated with complications such as excessive fetal growth, stillbirth, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, prematurity, and neonatal hypoglycemia. Risk factors include maternal obesity, poor eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, genetic predisposition, and maternal youth. These complications and factors highlight the importance of adequate control during pregnancy to minimize risks for both the mother and the fetus. Consequently, in the results of this research it was possible to find relevant information on the different existing risk factors, both modifiable and non-modifiable, highlighting that the proper intervention of nursing staff reduces maternal, fetal and neonatal risks by 76.3%. where it is concluded that timely intervention and care reduces risk factors and complications.
