Causas de la automedicación de los estudiantes del área de la salud de la universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí.

Abstract

Self-medication is a common behavior in society and common among university students. Objective: To develop an educational manual based on a bibliographic review on the causes of self-medication of students in the health area of the Eloy Alfaro Lay University of Manabí. Methodology: Non-experimental and cross-sectional descriptive study where the analyticalsynthetic, inductive-deductive, and historical-logical methods were used, the search for articles was carried out in secure and viable databases with inclusion criteria of ournals indexed and published in the last 5 years, being a total of 10 articles within which the Results: It is mentioned that the causes of self-medication in university students in the health area are given cultural factors, influential factors are related to the appearance of symptoms, the advice of family members, the influenceof advertising, the mildness of the symptoms and the lack of time to visit the doctor, among others, problems in the socioeconomic-family field, lack of access to the internet, lack of practical activities, and risk of disease contagion. Conclusion: The design of the educational manual will benefit young university students through the dissemination of educational strategies with didactic material and understandable information that will help strengthen knowledge about self-medication through self-care and health promotion.
