Resumen : | The World Health Organization (WHO) states that 17% of older adults in the global population are physically inactive and 41% are only insufficiently active to obtain health benefits. In addition, they have problems in their physical and mental health. The main cause of death in Ecuador are chronic diseases influenced by dietary factors, type II diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and cancer; as well as diseases directly related to nutritional risk or malnutrition. The study aimed to design a proposal to promote active and healthy aging in older adults through the implementation of physical, social and comprehensive care activities that promote autonomy, physical and emotional well-being, and social integration to improve quality of life. The methodology used was: systematic review of the literature, through indexed databases such as PubMed, Dialnet, Scielo, Elsevier, MSP & WHO. As a result, a proposal was designed once the results of documentary sources were analyzed, among the conclusive aspects. A proposal was made to improve the quality of life of older adults through a comprehensive approach adapted to their specific needs. |
