La periodontitis en relación con el cáncer.

Abstract

Several studies have confirmed that the relationship can be established between periodontitis and the development of cancer. There has been a constant discussion about the activity of periodontal microorganisms or their local activation. This association may occur due to the high levels and persistent presence of inflammatory mediators due to bacterial invasion during periodontitis. Objective: Investigate the relationship between periodontitis and its relationship with cancer. Method: According to this research project, which corresponds to a qualitative study of systematic literature reviews using the descriptive method of scientific journals or articles to describe and identify periodontal disease related to cancer, recording important information about the collected sources. Results: It has been found that patients diagnosed with advanced periodontitis have a significantly increased risk of developing cancer. Conclusion: The role of the dentist is crucial in the diagnosis of periodontal disease, which can significantly improve the prognosis of patients with systemic diseases, in this particular case cancer.
