Abstract: Planned obsolescence is a design strategy used by manufacturers to limit the useful life of technological products, encouraging the constant consumption of new devices, significantly causing the increase of technological waste that is harmful to the environment. In Ecuador, the management of this waste presents a critical challenge due to the lack of effective regulation. This waste contains hazardous materials such as lead, mercury and cadmium, which represent an environmental and human health risk if not managed properly, denoting that in our country the regulation on this and the management of technological waste is null, because although it has been shown that there are some initiatives and regulations, these are not sufficiently strict nor are they applied consistently. The purpose of this project is to promote research regarding the problem raised, so that it has an appropriate scope within the Organic Environmental Code and to demonstrate that we are not facing an isolated event.
