Resumen : | Ecuador was immersed in a complex network of conflicts generated by the trafficking of scheduled substances subject to control, serving as the origin of intense disputes between criminal gangs. This phenomenon was characterized by territoriality and control of strategic routes, where criminal organizations competed for control of key territories for drug trafficking. Criminal gangs, immersed in a constant struggle for control of these routes, unleashed episodes of violence and clashes that significantly affected local communities. Specific documents detailed cases of violence directly related to drug trafficking, evidencing the aggressive competition for control of the illicit business. In this context, an exhaustive analysis was carried out on the relationship between the increase in violence and competition for control of this lucrative business. The ineffectiveness of the measures implemented until then to combat the trafficking of scheduled substances was evident, with the critical identification of failures and deficiencies in the existing control and prevention mechanisms. The impact on national security was notable, with long-term consequences that threatened the country's stability. This panorama led to the conclusion that a comprehensive intervention was imperative. Approaches were proposed that addressed the roots of drug trafficking and its consequences, highlighting the importance of collaboration between key sectors such as security, health, education and social development to effectively address this systemic problem. In retrospect, this situation provides a solid basis for understanding past conflicts and designing strategies aimed at mitigating their effects. |
