Abstract: | The present research work carries out a comparative study from two axes - literary works and film adaptations - under the semiological vision, for this purpose, the dystopian trilogy “The Hunger Games” written by Suzanne Collins has been taken as the subject of study. In order to have a solid theoretical framework, Ferdinand de Saussure, Roland Barthes and Algirdas Greimas have been taken as referents; likewise, research focused on film adaptations led by characters such as Martín Rodríguez who, in turn, resorts to theorists such as Yuri Mijáilovich-Lotman and Brian McFarlane. The problem that triggers this study revolves around the following question: Does cinematography strengthen the message of the work or is it distorted along with the author's intentionality? In order to answer this question, three methods were used to collect information. First, an exhaustive literature review focused on the conceptual categories that make up the present work; second, interviews with experts in the aforementioned axes - Siomara España, David Grijalva, Iván Márquez - and finally, the use of double-entry matrices and actantial schemes to synthesize information and facilitate its analysis. As a result, it is mentioned that, despite the modifications to which a literary work is subjected to achieve transmutation to a different format - film adaptation - it is plausible to conclude that both formats complement each other, which makes it easier to understand the central themes of the story and effectively convey the message(s) told in the story. |
Description: | El presente trabajo de investigación realiza un estudio comparativo desde dos ejes – obras literarias y adaptaciones cinematográficas – bajo la visión semiológica, para esto se ha tomado como sujeto de estudio a la trilogía distópica Los Juegos del Hambre escrita por Suzanne Collins. A fin de tener un marco teórico sólido, se ha tomado como referentes a Ferdinand de Saussure, Roland Barthes y Algirdas Greimas; así mismo, se recurre a investigaciones enfocadas en las adaptaciones cinematográficas lideradas por personajes como Martín Rodríguez quien, a su vez, recurre a teóricos como Yuri Mijáilovich-Lotman y Brian McFarlane. |
