Abstract

This study analyzes the social worker's intervention strategies to support families in poverty in the Aníbal San Andrés parish of the Montecristi canton during the year 2024. The research arises from the need to address the conditions of vulnerability that affect these families and the importance of social intervention to promote their well-being and development. The main objective of the study is to know the professional assessment of Primary Care social workers on the needs of families in poverty, with special emphasis on single-parent families, and to identify new avenues of social intervention from the perspective of these professionals. The research was developed with a qualitative approach, using phenomenological and hermeneutic methods to interpret the realities and meanings of the phenomena studied. Interviews were conducted with 10 families, 1 parish leader and 1 social worker, in order to obtain detailed information on the strategies applied, the needs identified and the challenges encountered in the intervention process. The main result is that strategies focused on strengthening support networks, socioeconomic guidance and resource management significantly improve the living conditions of families living in poverty. In addition, the need to implement innovative interventions that include job training programs, access to basic services and psychosocial support was identified. Finally, it is concluded that social intervention is essential for vulnerable families in the Aníbal San Andrés parish, since, through effective strategies adapted to their specific needs, it is possible to contribute to their comprehensive well-being and offer them tools that allow them to break the cycle of poverty and achieve a more dignified and sustainable development.
