Abstract

Child abuse is a problem that affects the entire society and often has a profound negative impact on children, not only during their childhood, but throughout their entire lives, the abuse suffered is harmful due to the vulnerability of children at that stage and the fact that during these first years a much more accelerated neurobiological and psychological development occurs than in later stages. Therefore, given the importance of the subject, the present project is developed with the theme, social intervention in situations of child abuse in the Manta Canton Rights Protection Board, year 2024. The present study concludes that the main causes of child abuse in the Manta Canton are related to the family context, where domestic violence and separation of parents are predominant factors, these problems not only affect family dynamics, but also contribute to the perpetuation of abusive behavior patterns in children, who tend to replicate what they observe in their environment. For the collection of information, the qualitative approach was used, with its respective graphing and triangulation process, the interview instrument was carried out on 3 people, a Social Worker of the Rights Protection Board, and an Operating Authority in the Rights Protection Board. Therefore, with the help of the results obtained, it was established that the consequences of child abuse are serious and multifaceted, since, in the short term, affected children show signs of isolation, anxiety, depression, and a notable deterioration in their school performance, likewise, in the long term, children’s victims of abuse can internalize these violent behaviors, replicating them in their adult life.
