Abstract: | The present research aims to determine the impact of alcoholism on the academic performance of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law and Welfare of Uleam, year 2024. It presents the percentage of students who consume alcohol and how this substance plays a role within the students' lives according to factors such as their educational and family social environment. During the research process, a detailed view of the perspective of Uleam students was obtained regarding the impact alcohol has on academic performance. A descriptive and exploratory study was conducted with a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out through a focus group, taking the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law and Welfare as the target population. This made it possible to carry out the necessary inquiries to reach an effective conclusion on the problem posed. According to the results it was evidenced that there is a high percentage of students who consume alcohol, and some of the main causes are family problems, depression problems, followed by being able to belong to a group of friends, however, the family plays a fundamental role for which they consume. It was also determined that they have easy social access to these substances. On the other hand, consequences such as sychological damage, learning and memory problems were evidenced, which impair them in the development of academic activities. |
