Abstract: To fully understand the broad influence of remittances on the expansion of the economy, it is imperative to analyze their impact on both consumption and investment. The study aimed to analyze the effects of remittances sent by Ecuadorian migrants during the period 2000–2023, comparing them with the behavior observed in previous years, offering a detailed and informed understanding of how these transfers of funds have an impact on social indicators. . and macroeconomic at the local and national level. The methodology used was quantitative in nature, but included qualitative aspects. Regarding the type of study, a descriptive and analytical analysis was presented. Semi-structured interviews, documentary analysis, participant observation and content analysis were presented as data collection techniques. It was decided to use a non-probabilistic convenience sampling method to select a sample of 5 economists. As a result, through linear regression analysis, a moderately positive compensation between remittances and GDP is confirmed, which explains 48.6% of its variability. It is concluded that although remittances improve economic well-being in the short term, their transformative potential depends on public policies that can move productive investment away from structural dependence and direct it towards economic sustainability in the long term, thus facilitating financial education. infrastructure and support for strategic sectors such as agriculture and tourism.
