Abstract: | Older people have the right to equal access to justice as everyone else. This means they should be treated with respect and dignity and should not be discriminated against because of their age. The present study aims to determine the access to justice for older adults in the city of Manta in the year 2022-2023. The descriptive statistical method was used to describe or summarize the characteristics of a sample or set of data, such as the mean, standard deviation, or frequency of a variable, to diagnose the barriers and limitations to access to justice for older adults. The findings indicate that many older adults are unaware of their rights and the services available to them, which limits their access to justice. The research also revealed human rights violations in various institutions and contexts, underscoring the need to raise awareness about their rights. A protocol is proposed to improve education about rights and promote future research that strengthens access to justice for this vulnerable group. The diagnosis conducted in the research showed that in the city of Manta, the human rights of older adults are indeed violated in both public and private institutions, as well as within families and the community. This allowed for the achievement of the stated objectives and the proposal of future research that promotes the rights of older adults, helping to prevent this type of vulnerability. |
