El hacinamiento carcelario y su incidencia en la rehabilitación social de las personas privadas de la libertad del CRS “el rodeo” de Portoviejo.

Abstract

Prison overcrowding at the “El Rodeo” Social Rehabilitation Center in Portoviejo arises from shortcomings in the functions of the State institutions in charge of controlling the CRS and the existing corruption in the legal-penitentiary system. The objective of the study was to analyze prison overcrowding and its impact on the social rehabilitation of people deprived of liberty at the CRS “El Rodeo” in Portoviejo. To present proposals for solutions to this problem, the methodology that was applied in the collection of information and data was inductive-deductive methods through a descriptive study of qualitative and quantitative nature, applying techniques such as observation of the facilities of the health center. social rehabilitation, interviews with management personnel and security personnel, interviews with experts in the field, surveys of people deprived of their liberty and former detainees of the CRS “El Rodeo” of Portoviejo. Among the results it is evident that there is little interest on the part of certain authorities in the rehabilitation of these people, a situation that makes their social reintegration difficult.
