Abstract: In the present study, carried out in the canton of El Carmen, province of Manabí, the chemical composition of grass Clone 51 (Pennisetum sp) was evaluated using the microsylosis technique, applying three cutting ages. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with three treatments representing the cutting ages and 5 replications. The independent variables were the cutting ages (30, 40 and 50 days), while the dependent variables included moisture, crude protein, crude fiber, ash, ELNN and ethereal extract. The results revealed that Clone 51 grass microstrips achieved an average moisture content of 85,77%, with a protein content of 13,50% and an ethereal extract of 3,55%, while ash averaged 16,30%. It was concluded that cutting ages had no significant effect on grass moisture, protein, ethereal extract and ash, however, in terms of fiber, 50-day forages showed the highest content (35,93%), followed by 40-day (38.03%) and 30-day (35,89%) in terms of ELNN.
Description: En el presente estudio, realizado en el cantón El Carmen, provincia de Manabí, se evaluó la composición química del pasto Clon 51 (Pennisetum sp) mediante la técnica de microsilos, aplicando tres edades de corte. Se empleó un Diseño Completamente al Azar (DCA) con tres tratamientos representando las edades de corte y 5 repeticiones. Las variables independientes fueron las edades de corte (30, 40 y 50 días), mientras que las variables dependientes incluyeron la humedad, proteína cruda, fibra cruda, ceniza, ELNN y extracto etéreo.
