Abstract: | This study was conducted in the canton of El Carmen, Manabí, at the Palma Sola site with the objective of evaluating the optimum level of nitrogen to maximize the growth, yield and quality of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis), for which a completely randomized block design was established with six nitrogen treatments (0,15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 kg ha-1) and four replications. A soil analysis was carried out to determine the chemical conditions and to establish the appropriate pH for the crop. Nitrogen doses were calculated for each plant according to the treatments and were applied considering the amount and timing of supply. The data collected indicate that nitrogen levels have a significant impact on the vegetative growth of the passion fruit plant, with an increase in the length of secondary stems as the nitrogen dose was increased. Nitrogen levels also influence the number of flowers set and aborted, suggesting that specific doses of nitrogen can positively impact crop production. The analysis of economic efficiency reveals that the 75 kg ha-1 nitrogen dose is the most profitable, with a Benefit/Cost ratio of $1.44, indicating a higher economic efficiency compared to the other nitrogen doses evaluated. |
