Abstract: The trial was conducted at the Río Suma Experimental Farm, located in El Carmen, Ecuador, with the general objective of evaluating the effect of the use of polymers in the establishment of Cuba 22 grass (Pennisetum purpureum x Pennisetum glaucum). A completely randomized experimental design was used, with three replications and three treatments that included the incorporation of polymers for soil moisture retention. The variables evaluated included plant height, number of stems, number of leaves and stem diameter, which were measured at regular intervals until 60 days of growth. The results showed that the incorporation of polymers did not show a statistically significant impact on the morphological parameters analyzed, suggesting that polymers do not notably influence grass development. However, at 45 days, significant differences were found in the number of stems, where the treatment with hydrogel plus Biochar reached the highest average with 5 stems plant.
Description: El ensayo se llevó a cabo en la Granja Experimental Río Suma, ubicada en el cantón El Carmen, Ecuador, con el objetivo general de evaluar el efecto del uso de polímeros en el establecimiento del pasto Cuba 22 (Pennisetum purpureum x Pennisetum glaucum). Se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar, con tres repeticiones y tres tratamientos que incluyeron la incorporación de polímeros para la retención de humedad en el suelo.
