Abstract: The development of this research aims to describe the impact of occupational therapy in neonatology and support for families, establishing how it contributes to the development of neonates and family well-being, since the need for families to participate in neonatal care processes by occupational therapy professionals. The methodology consisted of a documentary review, where inclusion and exclusion criteria were used that allowed validating 22 scientific articles from reliable sources such as Scielo, PubMed, Redalyc, among others. Among the main results, it was identified that the role of occupational therapy in neonatology promotes the optimal development and adaptation of newborns; Likewise, the benefits of occupational therapy in neonatology and family support were recognized; Likewise, the steps or stages of intervention by the occupational therapist in neonatology were detailed to guarantee family support, describing the comprehensive evaluation of the baby and the family as the first point. In conclusion, it was proven that occupational therapy in neonatology comprehensively improves the well-being of the newborn through strategies such as evaluation, early care and family support.
Description: El desarrollo de la presente investigación tiene como objetivo describir el impacto de la terapia ocupacional en neonatología y el apoyo a las familias, estableciendo cómo contribuye al desarrollo de los neonatos y al bienestar familiar, ya que se evidencia como problemática la necesidad de que las familias participen de los procesos de atención neonatal por parte de los profesionales en terapia ocupacional.
