Abstract: | This research focuses on the importance of applying soil amendments for the production of fine or aroma cocoa. Proper soil selection is essential to ensure its agronomic suitability, especially with regard to cocoa cultivation. Optimal plant development can be negatively affected by low quality soils, resulting in poor productive performance due to an imbalance in the internal distribution of photosynthates produced during the photosynthesis process. The main objective of this study is to determine how the application of edaphic correctors influences the improvement of fertility and soil structure in Theobroma cacao L. To this end, field research was used with a quantitative-experimental approach, in which Land division techniques were applied to establish the experimental units in the crop. The results obtained show that the application of correctors, such as calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, has had a positive impact on increasing the pH in acidic soils, as observed in plots 2 and 5. This finding suggests that the amendments used contribute to improving the availability of essential nutrients, which corroborates the results reported in previous studies on the correction of acidic soils. |
Description: | La presente investigación se centra en la importancia de la aplicación de correctores de suelo para la producción de cacao fino o de aroma. La selección adecuada del suelo es esencial para garantizar su aptitud agronómica, especialmente en lo que respecta al cultivo de cacao. El desarrollo óptimo de la planta puede verse afectado negativamente por suelos de baja calidad, lo que resulta en un bajo desempeño productivo debido a un desequilibrio en la distribución interna de los fotosintatos producidos durante el proceso de fotosíntesis. El objetivo principal de este estudio es determinar cómo la aplicación de correctores edáficos influye en la mejora de la fertilidad y la estructura del suelo en Theobroma cacao L. |
