Evaluación de la calidad del agua mediante macroinvertebrados acuáticos en el río “Tachina” Pedernales- Manabí- 2024.

Abstract

In this study, it was established with the purpose of evaluating water quality using aquatic macroinvertebrates in the “Tachina” Pedernales-Manabí river, during the dry season. The analysis of biological diversity was carried out in three plots (Plot #1 Rpt, Plot #2 Rpt and Plot #3 Rpt) using the Shannon (Shaw) and Simpson (Simp) indices, with 250 bootstrap resamples to estimate variability. The dependent variable: (water quality) and independent variables through parameters: (physical – chemical parameters). To determine water quality using the EPT index, the Surber or trawl net technique was used. The analysis of macroinvertebrates revealed the presence of a diversity of orders and families, including Ephemeroptera, Odonata, Diptera, among others. The results of the physical - chemical parameters determine that the pH, presents values of 9.49 and 9.57, indicating an alkaline character in the three samples, the electrical conductivity, presents very similar values: 16.29 in P1, 16.13 in P2 and 16.21 in P3, the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), show a slight variation between 7.5 and 7.62, indicating a similar amount of these components in the three samples, the salinity remains low and constant at 0.01 in the three plots and the Hach resistivity shows a progressive increase from 59.90 in P1 to 60.20 in P2 and 63.7 in P3. The Shannon index shows some variability between plots (2.40, 1.61 and 1.95) and the Simpson index, which gives a value of 0.00 in the three plots.
