Análisis de las pymes en Manabí en el año 2017-2022.

Abstract

This case study analyzes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the toquilla straw artisan sector in Montecristi, Ecuador, from 2017 to 2021. Using a descriptive methodology and a mixed approach, the study assesses the characteristics, challenges, and opportunities of these businesses, with a focus on their capacity for internationalization and their economic and social impact. The results show that six companies are registered in Montecristi within this sector. Despite facing significant obstacles such as a lack of business training, limited financial resources, and the absence of technological innovation, the sector has potential opportunities in international fairs, online sales, and key markets such as the United States and Europe. The study recommends establishing training programs, fostering partnerships among artisans, and strengthening public policies to support the internationalization and sustainability of the sector.
