Abstract: | Artisanal fishing is an ancient practice carried out using traditional methods and small boats, usually operated by local fishermen. This type of fishing is characterized by its sustainable approach, as it uses techniques that minimize environmental impact and overexploitation of marine resources. In Jaramij6, artisanal fishing is a vital part of the local culture and economy. Artisanal fishermen often work in families or small cooperatives, using gillnets, handlines, and traps to capture a variety of marine species. These methods, although less intensive than industrial fishing, allow for maintaining an ecological balance and ensuring the continuity of fishery resources. An important characteristic of artisanal fishing is its focus on freshness and product quality. Fishermen often sell their catches directly in local markets, ensuring that consumers get fresh, high-quality products. In addition, artisanal fishing contributes to the food security of coastal communities and generates employment for many families. |
