La importancia de las zonas francas en Manta.

Abstract

The research examines the importance of free zones in Manta, their influence on local development, and their potential as an international logistics hub. Manta, with its strategic location on the Pacific coast and a deep-water port, faces infrastructure and competitive challenges that limit its economic growth. This study aims to identify how free zones can attract foreign investment, generate employment, and enhance competitiveness. Using a qualitative approach and documentary design, current regulations, economic studies, and success cases in ports such as Callao (Peru) and Valparaíso (Chile) were reviewed. The results reveal advantages such as proximity to Asia and port capacity, although they underscore the need for an appropriate regulatory framework and strategic planning. It is concluded that free zones could position Manta as a regional benchmark in international trade.
