Análisis de la industria de transporte marítimo de contenedores en Ecuador 2020-2023.

Abstract

The purpose of the research work was to analyze the maritime container transport industry in Ecuador during the period 2020-2023. The qualitative and bibliographic method was used to collect information, process it and analyze it, generating knowledge to understand and reflect on the impact during and after the pandemic, on the decrease in containers. A type of descriptive and explanatory research was also applied that enabled the description and analysis of container mobilization processes. The results show that the health emergency of 2020 negatively affected Ecuador's economy, especially impacting the maritime container transport industry, with the port of Guayaquil being the most affected. Therefore, it is concluded that the decrease in container movement had a drastic impact in 2020-2021 and a gradual recovery from 2022, negatively impacting the maritime container transport industry.
