Abstract

The objective of this research is to carry out a hydraulic analysis and evaluation of the Guabital Canal, located in the Rocafuerte canton, province of Manabí, in order to determine its conduction capacity, efficiency in the management of water resources and its impact on agricultural activities. of the area. This canal is of great importance for the irrigation of local agricultural lands, so it is essential to ensure its optimal functioning. To carry out the analysis, hydraulic calculation methods were used applied to the measurement of variables such as flow rate and flow speed. Likewise, studies were carried out on the distribution and quality of water, taking into account physical, chemical and biological parameters. The results obtained allowed us to identify various areas of improvement in terms of the efficiency of the canal, such as the need for maintenance in specific sections, the optimization of the flow to avoid losses due to filtration, and the implementation of strategies to reduce the environmental impact caused by the canal. This study also provided recommendations to improve water management, optimizing its use in agricultural activities and contributing to the sustainability of the irrigation system. It is concluded that, through adequate maintenance and the implementation of technical measures, the Guabital Canal can significantly improve its hydraulic performance, guaranteeing greater efficiency in the use of water for crops in the region.
