Abstract: This research analyzes the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete buildings using two structural systems: moment-resistant frames and dual systems, in a context of high seismic hazard such as that of Ecuador. A theoretical-experimental investigation was carried out where computer simulations were included with the ETABS software to model structures with different elevations, evaluating parameters such as stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation capacity. The results obtained in the static and modal spectral analysis revealed that dual systems have a better seismic-resistant performance, especially in scenarios of high seismic activity due to their ability to combine stiffness and flexibility, in contrast to framed systems, which have a good performance, but stand out for their ease of construction and lower costs compared to dual systems. And with the percentage reduction of both analyses, a significant decrease is represented, both in drifts and in periods, when changing from one system to another.
