Abstract: This work was carried out at the Lodana experimental farm, of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro in Manabí, Ecuador, with the objective of evaluating the efficiency and sustainability of two mobile rearing systems in the growth and fattening of improved Creole chickens of the Pío Pío breed. The research compared the productive performance in two mobile shed designs, S1 (3x6 m) and S2 (3x4 m), considering variables such as weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion, carcass yield and mortality. The experiment included 100 birds distributed equally, with four repetitions with 12 birds each. Both groups received balanced feed in three phases (starter, growth and fattening) and were managed under a strict sanitary protocol that included vaccination (Newcastle, Gumboro and fowl pox). For 90 days, biweekly measurements were taken, processed with advanced statistical tools, such as the Student T test, to identify significant differences between the systems. The results indicated that the S1 system, with a lower density of birds (2.7 chickens/m2), provided a more favorable environment for productive development. S1 recorded greater total weight gain (96.06 kg) and better carcass yield (2.27 kg), surpassing S2 (85.97 kg and 1.97 kg, respectively) with a higher density of birds (4.16 chickens/m2). Although both systems presented a similar feed conversion (1.19 kg), in S1 it was evidenced by a higher feed consumption, associated with better management conditions and less animal stress. This study concludes that the implementation of mobile sheds with a lower density optimizes the growth and fattening of improved Creole chickens.
