Abstract: The main objective of this research was to conduct a theoretical review on the pollution of shrimp farms and its impact on the development of the black ark clam (Anadara tuberculosa). A qualitative methodology was used based on a bibliographic review with the PRISMA method, including studies between 2010-2014. The results indicate that pollution, mainly from nutrients and chemicals, has negatively affected water quality and the growth of the black ark clam, observing decreases in its size and abundance in areas near the farms. The conclusions highlight the urgent need to implement mitigation measures and good environmental practices to protect this vital resource and its ecosystem. Furthermore, it is suggested that future research evaluate the effectiveness of these measures and explore the long-term impact of pollution on the health of the black ark clam and its habitat.
